Taking pictures has always been one of my sheer joys. The eye can see so much more than any camera, no matter how good it is, so the trick is to use the instrument as best you can to capture something, some simulacrum, of that which your eye is perceiving. And, of course, the image produced always surprises. As a writer, there is no shortage of inspiration I find in the world around me. Taking pictures helps distill the magic.
